My contributor copies have arrived!
Heya, Bookwyrms!
Those who know me for my original fiction may not know that I translate manga (Japanese comic books) for a living. I’ve had my translations in most major bookstores for a few years now. It’s been surreal to see my name in print.
I specialize in all mediums of Japanese fiction, but manga is my first passion. The story concepts are extraordinary, the characters larger-than-life, and sometimes just plain batshit. The stories don’t care what you think about them. They only care if you think about them. How genius is that? Lots of lessons to learn from the medium. I highly recommend writers pick up some titles!
Entertainment translation often comes with poor pay and no credit, but I’ve gotta hand it to my clients. They treat me well and I genuinely enjoy working with smart, passionate localizers. They even send contributor copies to their translators! After a number of supply chain issues, my first box has finally arrived!
There are way more where these came from! 😁
Is this what it feels like to receive advance reader copies (and finished copies) of original novels? I’m excited to find out! Here’s too good news on the horizon…and more manga!
